These Battery Extenders from Auto Meter are designed to maximize the life of a
12 V battery. They charge a battery at a 1 amp rate until it is fully charged, and
then change to a 250 milliamp current to maintain a full charge. This prevents
sulfation, the main reason for premature battery failure.
