Power Line Carrier (PLC) Converter For Trailer ABS

The PLC generic communication hardware kit allows your existing Pro-Link to communicate over the PLC (Power Line Carrier) communication link. This is the link that allows "Trailer to Tractor" communication for the ABS braking system. Using the software that is provided and installed onto the Pro-Link diagnostic tool you are able to test the ABS brake fault notification communicated between the tractor and trailer using PLC. This test may be executed through the J560 cable set or the existing 6-pin Deutsch connector.

Key Features:

Expands the capability of the Pro-Link diagnostic tool for ABS applications.
Connects between the Pro-Link and the tractor trailer using the J560
connector or 6-pin Deutsch connector.
The Pro-Link with the PLC Converter can now be used to turn on the Trailer
ABS warning light in the cab.
The Pro-Link with the PLC Converter can now be used to detect the Trailer
ABS warning light signal from the trailer ECU.

Effective March 2001, a Federal Government mandate required that heavy-duty
trucks have an in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp. Using a new SAE standard
called PLC communication, the change requires trailer ABS ECU’s to
communicate with the tractor ECU via the J560 power line to activate the trailer
warning lamp. NEXIQ’S PLC converter is for use with NEXIQ PLC test
application (sold applications) for the Pro-Link Plus, PC or Heavy Duty Standard
Suite for Palm OS application. When the converter is used with the PLC test
application it provides the ability to:

Verify trailer ABS ECU for MID 10 and MID 11 messages.
Toggle in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp ON/OFF to confirm operation.
Test tractor and trailer coupled or trailer independently for MID messages.
